Still feel like development tasks are slow, but hopefully I am in a good spot for better progress next week. Updating my Now page as I do some project planning.
Watching
In order to watch the new season of Wednesday I have signed up for a month of Netflix. While it’s fun to see most of the characters again, so far I think I enjoy Season 1 more. While Season 2 is not bad, with the extra attention and budget, it feels like they’re trying to do too much and fit in more story lines and feels a bit more scattered as a result.
I have also finally started Squid Game now that it is all released. Some parts are quite different than I expected but it has been interesting so far. I have been watching with the original Korean voice and English subtitles. Even though I do not understand any Korean, I try to watch media in their original language as I feel like the voice direction is going to be most close to the writer/directors version in the original language.
Server Shuffle
While I have not been particularly disappointed with Linode (referral link), cloud hosting can be expensive for what you get. While you do (expect) to get a certain level of stability in network and such with the cloud, the cost for CPU, Memory, and Disk is rather significant. I am going to try to reduce some of my cloud spending and move some services to some raspberrypi running in my apartment. I will likely leave at least one VM in the cloud as an egress and routing server for Tailscale, and will also likely continue to use cloud object storage since that’s at a price point and reliability that would be more challenging to do in house.
Updating Blog
Now that I have an alpha version of my Markdown Virtual Table , I have resumed my blog rewrite. While the rewrite itself is going well, packaging it into docker is more of a challenge, due to the rust dependencies. Once I get things sorted, it will be nice to move off of Hugo and on to something Django based.
