Working on server migration

Slowly working through a server migration. As I started, I realized a few more pods than I initially thought, need to maintain a bit of state, so I’m taking my time migrating them.

Since raspberry pi already has some optimizations for Debian, I have also been doing some migration from Rocky to Debian. This means that I’ve needed to go through a few of my salt states and update them to check for the differences.

Still feel like development tasks are slow, but hopefully I am in a good spot for better progress next week. Updating my Now page as I do some project planning.

weeklog 2025 Week 28

I feel like this week has been a week of yak shaving .

Kubernetes

Due to salt ’s upcoming great module migration I am a little worried for the project status. I also briefly spun up a Linode Kubernetes cluster to test there, but then removed it after a day since I have no current plans to use it yet.

weeklog 2025 Week 7

My gaming group has started Factorio: Space Age which means most of my time has disappeared into it. Since Factorio often scratches the same kind of developer itch, it means all my other projects have pretty much fallen to the wayside for now. Hopefully I’ll get to a point where I’m not losing quite so much time into a game.

Momentum Replacement

While I have no particularly large complaints about momentum , I want to have a bit more control over my browser start page. I also want to experiment with htmx a bit more for loading widgets and other bits of information. Creating a dashboard is also an opportunity to get me to study css’s grid model better.

While studying the grid model, I found layoutit which has made it much easier to visually understand what is happening while making my own grid layout.

weeklog 2022 Week 46

I was never a particularly heavy Twitter user, but the recent drama has been very distracting. Very much like watching a wreck. This has not been good for my work motivation which has already been a bit low recently. Next week I need to be better at blocking distractions. For now, I’ve downloaded my twitter snapshot in case I want to poke at the old data, and am looking at tools like semiphemeral to clean up my old footprint there.
